Sport Fee: $12 Per Event
REGISTRATION RULES - Event is USCF sanctioned--USCF rules apply. - One-Year or Day Licenses are mandatory. International licenses will be honored. - Purchase licenses prior to Games through USCF (719-866-4581 or www/usacycling.org) or purchase licenses at Pre-Race Meeting--One-Year Membership ($60) or Day License ($10 per day). - Indicate your race division on your registration form: Licensed (very competitive, experienced riders), Public A (experienced riders), Public B (recreational riders), Novice (first time racers). Divisions will be monitored based on last year’s results. 2004 Overall Winners in each category (except "Licensed") must move up.
Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting- Monday, Oct. 3, 5:30 pm--Dixie Center. - License sales and bib distribution will begin at 4:30 pm. Cyclists will be required to present their HWSG ID Badge to receive their bib packet.
Format / Rules- Official Cycling Race Bibles will be distributed at the Pre-Race Meeting. - Helmets are mandatory at all times. - Start times for each race will be posted at the Dixie Center throughout the Games and at the race venue on race day.
Event DescriptionsHill Climb Date: Tuesday, Oct. 4 Time: 9:00 am to Noon Venue: Snow Canyon State Park--Sand Dunes Distance: 5K Course: Uphill rollies 4% to 8%; short sections 10% to 11%; scenic, colorful canyon.
Time TrialDate: Wednesday, Oct. 5 Time: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Venue: Town of Enterprise Distance: 40K: Men 50-64; Women 50-54 20K: Men 65+; Women 55+; Novice Course: Certified; out and back fast, flat gradual 60 degree turn and slight dog leg with an altitude of 5,300 feet. 20K starts first. Mornings can be very cold--dress warm. Great lunch and entertainment follows event--$6.00 lunch fee.
CriteriumDate: Thursday, Oct. 6 Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Venue: Bluff Street Park, St. George Distance: 34K--27 Laps: Men 50-64 16K--13 Laps: Men 65+; Women; Novice Course: Triangular street circuit with very slight grades; 1.26K per lap; separate Women’s and Novice races. Road RaceDate: Friday, Oct. 7 Time: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Venue: Ivins, Gunlock, Snow Canyon State Park Distance: 62K: Men 50-64; Licensed Men 65-69 50K: Public Men 65-69; Men 70-74; Women 50-64 37K: Men 75+; Women 65+; Novice Course: Three start locations: 62K--Ivins; 50K--Gunlock Turnoff; 37K--Gunlock. "Circuit" course: 1 lap = 62K; start/end 3,000 feet altitude; rollies, 1,700 foot gain/loss, upgrades mostly under 6% but one 9% (0.4 mile), one 6%-11% (1.1 mile). Long downhill, fast twisty, challenging descent through scenic Snow Canyon State Park (reverse Hill Climb) near finish.
Medals- Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and 4th, 5th and 6th place ribbons will be awarded for each age and race division following each event. - Overall Award Jerseys will be presented to overall best in all Licensed and Public divisions. A Certificate will be presented to the overall best in the Novice divisions. Participants must enter a minimum of three events to qualify for "overall" awards. Overall awards will be presented at the Sport Sponsor Social. - The sixth annual David Richardson Award will be presented at the Sport Sponsor Social for outstanding sportsmanship displayed throughout the cycling event, embodying the true spirit of the Games. The recipient of this very special award will be selected through a vote by the cyclists.
