REGISTRATION RULES AND INFORMATION

Participant Age. All athletes must be 50 years old by December 31. Athlete’s competition age will be based on his/her age on December 31.

Partner and Team Age. Partner and team age groups are determined by the age of the youngest partner / team member on December 31. In some cases a combined age of partners will be used (see individual sport pages).

Age Divisions. (unless otherwise stated on individual sport page)

Individuals: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95+
Team Sports: 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+

Games officials reserve the right to cancel any event or combine age divisions due to insufficient entries.

Physical Condition. It is recommended that participants confer with their personal physician prior to this competition.

Registration Forms. Registration forms will be available by June 1. Call our office at 1-800-562-1268 if you would like to receive your form by mail OR if you would like to register online, click the on-line forms tab of this website. This form will be available June 1st.

Registration Fee. Total Registration Fee = Registration Fee (listed below) + all applicable Sport Fees. Sport Fees are listed on the individual sport pages.

Early-Bird Athlete Registration Fee $69 (postmarked by August 1)
Athlete Registration Fee $89 (postmarked by September 1)
Guest Registration Fee $39

Registration Deadline. September 1.

Registering for Multiple Events. Unless otherwise stated on a sport page, registration in multiple events is allowed. Several events are scheduled simultaneously and schedule changes will not be made to accommodate a multi-sport participant. No refunds will be made if athletes cannot participate in multiple events due to scheduling conflicts.

Registering Guests. Guests who register will receive a Games shirt, $10 Dinner Ticket, admission to their “accompanying athlete’s” Sport Sponsor Social, Health Screening and will be allowed to participate in the sports listed on the Guest Registration Form. Guests must be 21 years old. Registration of Guests is optional.

Confirmation of Entry. You will receive a letter of confirmation within two weeks after receipt of your entry forms. Participants that register on-line will receive an acknowledgement of their submitted form immediately and a confirmation within two weeks of the submission. Call the HWSG office if you do not receive confirmation or if any information on the confirmation is incorrect.

Refusal of Entry. HWSG reserves the right to refuse entry to the Games to any individual for any reason.

Refunds. All refund requests must be in writing and postmarked by September 30. A $20 processing fee will be assessed. Refund checks will be mailed on October 31. No refunds will be made due to cancellation of an event because of inclement weather.


TRAVEL AND LODGING INFORMATION

Transportation to St. George

By Car. I-15 passes directly through St. George - 120 miles northeast of Las Vegas - 300 miles south of Salt Lake City.

By Air. Fly directly into St. George using either Delta Airlines or United Airlines or fly into either Las Vegas or Salt Lake City and rent a car or call the St. George Shuttle (800-933-8320) for a ride to St. George.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Games Headquarters. Dixie Center – 1835 Convention Center Drive, St. George.

Check-In. When you arrive in St. George, prior to your first scheduled event, you must check-in at the Dixie Center, 1835 Convention Center Drive. Each individual must check-in personally. A photo ID showing your date of birth will be required. At check-in you will receive your ID Badge, Dinner Ticket, Official Games Polo Shirt and Welcome Bag.

Dinner Tickets. Each participant will receive one Dinner Ticket in the amount of $10 that is redeemable at any one of the participating restaurants listed on the ticket. Tickets may be used for breakfast, lunch or dinner. No change will be given if the full value is not used, tickets may not be redeemed for cash value, the $10 cannot be applied to alcoholic beverages or gratuities and tickets must be redeemed by October 31.

Engraving. The Engraving Shoppe, Hooray! will be at the Dixie Center to engrave up to 5 lines on your medal for a nominal fee.

Equipment. Participants are required to provide their own equipment, except as specified on their sport page.

Event Cancellations / Postponements. In the event of inclement weather, Games Officials reserve the right to cancel or postpone outdoor events. During the Games call or visit the Information Desk for the latest updates. Games officials also reserve the right to cancel any event or combine age groups due to insufficient entries. In all cases, there will be no refunds.

Games Gift Shop. Souvenir items will be available for sale at the Official Games Gift Shop located in the Dixie Center. Gift Shop hours coincide with Dixie Center hours.

Languages. Translators will be available. Please notify the Games office of arrival time and language assistance needed.

Lost and Found. Located at the Games Information Desk in the Dixie Center.

Medals. Medals will be awarded after an event or at the Sport Sponsor Social (see sport page). Any medals not picked up at these times will be available at the Games Information Desk at the Dixie Center the following day. No medals will be mailed.

Medical. Medical personnel and standby ambulance service will be available at some venue sites. If you must be transported by ambulance it will be at your expense. The Medical Support Team is sponsored by Allstate Insurance Company and Intermountain Health Care.

Photographers. Official Games Photographers will be located at the Canyons Softball Complex and at the Dixie Center and will be taking individual, team and some action photos that will be available for purchase.

Results. During the Games results will be posted on the Sport Boards at the Dixie Center. An Official Results Book, including results of all sports, will be mailed to your home by the end of December.

Sport Boards. Sport Boards with the latest information on schedules and results will be located near the Check-In Area at the Dixie Center.

Shuttle Service. The Games will operate a free shuttle service to transport participants from their hotel to their sport venue sites. Calls for shuttle must be made three hours in advance. Vehicles are donated by Stephen Wade Auto Center.

Transportation. St. George has local taxi service and a rapid transit system. Visit the Games Information Desk at the Dixie Center for schedules and information.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Ceremonies and Parade of Athletes.
Tuesday, October 4 – 7:00 pm – Hansen Stadium and Tuesday, October 11 – 7:00 pm – Burns Arena at Dixie State College
March in the Parade of Athletes (first week only) then enjoy celebrity guest speakers, musical productions, bands, choirs, the running of the torch and spectacular fireworks. Second Week Ceremonies sponsored by Coral Canyon – a Suncor Community.

Health Screenings. Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Dixie Center - Screening schedule will be available at the Games Information Desk, Dixie Center. Free health screening tests include PSA, blood pressure, blood sugar, body composition, clinical breast exams, hearing deficiency, cholesterol, bone density and glaucoma. Free to athletes and registered guests. ID Badge Required. Results of PSA and Cholesterol screening will be mailed to your home by the end of November. Health Screenings are a gift provided by Brigham Young University, IHC-Dixie Regional Medical Center and UVSC-Nursing Department.

Participant Talent Show. Each Sunday at 3:00 pm – Dixie Center. Check in at 2:45 pm if you are participating in the Talent Show. (Free to all Participants and Spectators.)To enter, complete and mail the Talent Show Entry Form (in the Entry Forms Insert - center section of our Handbook) by September 10. A microphone, piano and tape/CD player will be provided. The order of participants will be drawn at show time. Participants need to check-in 30 minutes prior to show time.

Singles Social. Each Wednesday at 8 pm, SunRiver Community Center--$5 per person (can be pre-paid with registration or pay at the door). We will no longer honor requests for free admission to the Singles Social-an ID Badge or Ticket is required. Open to all singles (this means maritally unattached, not traveling alone!) who want to meet others with the same interests. Enjoy light refreshments, entertainment and dance if you wish. Sponsored by SunRiver St. George.

Sport Socials. Each sport's sponsor will host its athletes to a social. The format will vary by sport. Athlete's and registered Guest's HWSG ID Badge is his/her ticket to the social. Tickets for non-registered guests will be available for purchase at the Dixie Center Check-In area. We will no longer honor requests for free admission to the Sport Socials.

Western Dinner Dance.Each Thursday, 7 pm to 10 pm, Washington County Fairgrounds (Regional Park). ID Badge or Ticket is required. Tickets may be purchased at the Dixie Center or at the door.
Join us for these exciting Western Dinner Dances and get a feel for that great old western hospitality. This will be a side-slappin’ fun evening. Put on your western duds and enjoy a delicious barbecue. Following dinner, a rip-roarin’ good time will be had by all with an evening of line dancing, foot tappin’ and heel-kickin’ fun! You don’t have to dance to enjoy this evening! Live country band! This is an excellent opportunity to visit with new acquaintances and renew old friendships from previous years. There is a $15 charge per person and shuttle service will be available.
It’s an evening not to be missed!
