Athletes interested in getting a jump on things in preparation for October’s Huntsman World Senior Games can do so, starting today, March 1, 2012. Online registration for individuals opened just after midnight.
“This is one of the best days of the year for us at the Games,” said Kyle M Case, Games CEO. “People look forward to this event and we want to make registration accessible as soon as we possibly can.”
After the 2011 Games came to a close, the organizing team immediately begins preparation for the next year. Wrap-up meetings are held with Sports Directors and Committee Heads, evaluating what went right and what needs improvement. Each sport is reviewed, and plans for adjustments, if necessary, are made. The entire website must be reviewed for date corrections and rules updates. Venues are contacted and scheduled for another year.
“It’s quite a lot of work to get things ready for the opening of online registration, but it’s worth it when we come in in the morning and already see dozens of people registered for the sport of their choice,” said Case.
Taking into account the available venues and the growth of the Games, several sports will have participation caps this year, including Pickleball, Bowling and Table Tennis. Athletes are encouraged to register early to guarantee their spot in this year’s Games.

The Huntsman World Senior Games is the largest annual multi-sport event for athletes 50 and over in the world. The Games take place each October in St. George, Utah and is open to athletes of all skill levels.
