First Day of Competition Ends

Road Race - 10KMonday, October 8, marked the first day of competition for the Huntsman World Senior Games with a variety of events taking place.  The morning started early with a beautiful run down Snow Canyon State Park in the 10K Road Races.  Richard Ferguson, 54, of Danville, VA scorched the course with a blazing time of 38:06.4.

Tuesday will mark the Opening Ceremonies at Hansen Stadium on the campus of Dixie State College.  The festivities will include a Parade of Athletes and some pretty incredible singing and dancing from local talent.  This year's special guest speaker will be NASCAR racing legend Morgan Shepherd, presented by Hyland's Homeopathics.  Utah's Governor, Gary Herbert will also be present to welcome the athletes to the Games.  This year's Torch Runner is internationally known ultra-marathoner Stan Cottrell who will kick off his world-wide Great Global Friendship Run at the Opening Ceremonies.  It will be a night long remembered and not to be missed.
