When teams come to participate in the Huntsman World Senior Games, they come for many reasons; the friendship and camaraderie, the amazing scenery of Southern Utah, the friendly volunteers and community. But most of all, they come to play.
With that idea in mind, the Games has decided to raise the minimum game-guarantee from four to six games in the Soccer event.
“This move will give an even greater incentive to teams to come and enjoy a great all-around soccer experience,” said Merrill Barney, Games Sports Director.
Also, in an effort to accommodate more players, the Soccer event dates have changed from previous years. In 2013, Soccer will take place from October 10 – 12, running into a weekend for the first time.
The Games soccer Tournament is an 8 vs. 8 event played on an 80’ x 60’ field. FIFA rules will govern play.
The Huntsman World Senior Games is the largest annual multi-sport event in the world for athletes 50 and over and takes place each year in St. George, Utah.
