Games Visit China

December, by default, seems to be a very hectic month.  Holiday shopping, parties and end of year preparations keep people hopping during that month.  For Huntsman World Senior Games CEO, December was a busy month for a different reason; he went to China.

“The Huntsman World Senior Games has had an international flair from the very beginning,” said Case.  “Over the past several years, we’ve seen international participation grow very rapidly.  We want to keep that growth going, so we’re reaching out in new and different ways to invite athletes from all over the world to the Games.”

The tour, which encompassed 17 days, was an incredible experience of cultural exchange Case said.

The journey began in the City of Qingdao, a port city of about 10 million people southeast of Beijing.  In an effort to create a mutually beneficial relationship of cultural and economic exchange, the Games signed a Friendship Agreement with the city of Qingdao, a first of this type of agreement for the Games.  President Zang, of the Qingdao Friendship Association was a gracious host for a formal dinner immediately following the signing ceremony.

“I am excited to enter in this agreement with the city of Qingdao,” said Case.  “I believe out two organizations can greatly benefit by working together to accomplish mutually beneficial goals.”

Case was able to give several presentations on the Games throughout China at various locations including Qingdao, Weifang, Xuzhou and Qufu.  He also met with sports and government of various cities and provinces including Tai’an, Chengdu, Taishan and Beijing.

“It was an incredible trip,” said Case.  “We were able to visit centuries old temples, monasteries and historical sites.  The deep sense of history on China was truly amazing.”

The Games hopes to see increased participation from senior athletes from China. 

The Huntsman World Senior Games is the nation’s largest annual sporting competition for athletes age 50 and over.  With 27 sports to choose from, including Soccer, every one of all skill levels is invited to participate.
