Over the past 24 years, the Huntsman World Senior Games has welcomed more than 60 different countries to St. George, Utah, USA. To celebrate such incredible international participation, the Games is holding the third annual International Festival. The Festival is one more opportunity for the Games’ athletes and community members to celebrate together. This community-centered event is Friday, October 15, 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday, October 16, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. This year the Festival moves to the St. George Town Square. The larger venue allows for more activities, cultural experiences and more visitors.
Jeff Harding, Operations Director for the Games said, “The International Festival gives the Games an opportunity to thank the community and our volunteers while celebrating different cultures and the international visitors who participate in the Games each year.”
Rotary clubs from around the world have been invited to sponsor artisans, who will bring their crafts to sell at the Festival. Additionally, local businesses will adopt a country and provide attendees with an interactive experience focused on that country’s culture, geography or customs.
Visitors will be given a “passport” to visit each "country." Holders of passports that have a stamp from each country will be eligible for drawings for a 7-day cruise.
There will also be food booths, activities for children and entertainment. The Global Games area will give attendees an opportunity to participate in recreational activities that originated in countries around the globe. In addition, the Festival will feature international food and great entertainment. On Friday night, there will be a free screening of "Crocodile Dundee." On Saturday, the Games will officially close with a fireworks display. Admission to the festival and the entertainment is free. Everyone is invited to attend.
